About Kathryn

My background in helping people is a combination of formal schooling and life experience. Early in my career I earned my B.A. from the University of Minnesota and proceeded directly into child welfare advocacy working in community outreach for early child intervention. I spent 15 years tirelessly working as a guardian ad litum, foster parent, parent advocate and child abuse/neglect specialist. It was also my privilege to live and work internationally in Mexico, Greece and Sweden where my professional outlook was permanently altered by multi-cultural influences. Living a year in Sweden, learning the language and immersing myself in the people and the culture there left me with a lifelong love and special connection to the country of Sweden. It is a fond wish of mine to return and make a home there.

In 1997 I decided to pursue my MSW at the University of Washington and the degree opened new professional doors to me. At this point in my life I began to shift focus to a pursuit of greater meaning and depth both personally and professionally. I was moved to take my accumulated experience, skills and multi-cultural grounding and unite them with a program of deeper study and inquiry to combine into a deeper, more truly responsive approach to therapy.
